At 8.8 lbs. and 13" in height, I would classify this cast as a small to medium sized cast compared to the other fire ant colony casts. A large cast would be
Cast #033 and a small one would be
Cast #006. This cast is mounted with a bolt to the base, which isn't possible with the large casts which just sit on top of the base. The smaller size doesn't mean there's no intricate detail. There are still hundreds of interconnected tunnels and chambers. This cast had a few slight imperfections, which almost made me scrap it, but I decided to mount it and give it to a friend. It looks great from the front, but
from the back, you can see that the pour hole was poked too deep and can be seen in the cast.
The cast is displayed upside down from its natural orientation and is mounted to the base with a bolt. Smaller casts are easier to mount this way and it's cool because it's easier to pick up and move around.
